At the end of April, closing of the Ro, the sunken hearth, at the end of cold season. From May, season for Furo, a wind furnace, starts. Today is the first lesson of Furo.

On the alcove, hanging 薫風自南来 -kunpu minami yori kitaru- scroll. The couplet is 殿閣生微涼 -denkaku biryou wo shouzu-. It is a scene where a refreshing early summer breeze blows through the palace. It describes that the breeze erases earthly desires and be in a refreshing state of mindlessness.

The flowers are irises, have a solemn appearance.

For sweets, prepared Loqua (Tokyo Chitose Funabashi, Toumiya).
