The 6th Kobori Enshu Ryu Koho-kai Tea Ceremony at Sadou Kaikan on December 8, 2024

The Sadou Kaikan is located in a residential area where is about 10 minutes from Takadanobaba Station, a short distance from Waseda Street. Blessed with fine weather, the tea ceremony began at 11:00.

The Koicha (thick tea ceremony) was held in the Ema-seki, and the Usucha (thin tea ceremony) was held in the Meimei-ken (standing bow style). The theme of the thin tea ceremony was “Chushingura (treasury of loyal retainers)." We enjoyed listening to a story about Kabuki, reasons of white color utensils selection and white colored sweets.

The Tennjin (light meals) was “Japanese Cuisine Yamazato” in Tokyo.

It was a wonderful tea ceremony which is suitable for the end of the year and the beginning of the New Year.
