The berries on the trees are turning red and we can feel the late autumn on the walkway. In the Roji at Shorai-an, the flowers of Japanese silverleaf have started to bloom.
In the season of the Ro (sunken heath), the Hishaku (ladle) also changes from the one for the Furo (brazier) to the one for the Ro (sunken heath). The Hishaku is a tool for drawing hot water, and its shape differs depending on the shool. The Kobori Enshu Ryu's Hishaku is characterized by a large Go (the cap part of a Hishaku).
The flowers for the alcove are Saga-giku (Saga Chrysanthemum) and Ryo-bu (Japanese clethra).
For sweets, prepared “Kuri-mushi-yokan (Chestnut Steamed Yokan)”(Gifu Suya).
