This year's Mid-Autumn Festival is on September 17th.

In China, there is a long holiday for this festival, during this holiday people spend time together with family and relatives. Mooncakes, a popular Chinese sweets in Japan, are eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival in China. Mooncakes symbolize the full moon, which is considered auspicious as it's complete shape, and the round shape represents family gatherings and unity.

The hanging scroll on the alcove reads "清風萬里秋," meaning "A fresh autumn breeze blows everywhere." I always think of this line when September comes.

The flowers on the alcove are gentian, zebra grass, and patrinia scabiosiforia.

As for the sweets, prepared "Mikuro Gofuku Mooncake (Photo - Chestnuts Paste)" (Washow Co., Ltd., Yokohama).
